In today's ever more hectic pace, children are increasingly running out of leisure time for undisturbed play and relaxation. The wishes and expectations of parents to have a child force children into organized leisure activities and other obligations. Parents take on this role to such an extent that during afternoons they turn into chauffeurs, who ferry their children from one after-school activity to another. Overdoing the responsibilities a child has after his or her stay in kindergarten/school consequently affects the quantity and quality of leisure time and also family relationships. This thesis enumerates today's burdens on children, which take away from their time for the simple everyday activity of playing. The purpose of this master's thesis was to present the leisure time of children, stress the importance of play for children's development, to familiarize relevant legal resources and the overburdening children. My interest also focused on relaxation activities. The study used a descriptive and causal-nonexperimental method of empirical pedagogical research. The data are based on casual sample of 230 parents who filled out an online questionnaire. The results obtained with the statistical analysis showed that children have enough leisure time. However, many children still spend their leisure time watching television. Based on the results, we found that in most cases it is the children who choose to attend these activities, which excludes "ambitious" parents forcing their children into activities according to their own wishes. |
