First, an overview of all the existing studies and the contemporary views of univerbation in Slovene linguistics are given. The overview shows that the references to univerbation in Slovene theory fall mainly into two categories: first, univerbation is explained in association with the lexicalization phenomena under the influence of informality, and second, it is treated within the framework of the Polish-Slovene contrastive analysis and the discussion of the distinction between conversion and univerbation. The Slovar novejšega besedja ("Dictionary of new words") is the first Slovene dictionary that contains entries with the explanation "univerbiated from" The paper analyses 94 words formed through univerbation in terms of the properties of their syntactic base, word-formational base, suffixes and semantic features. The analysis is based on the theoretical foundations developed in the linguistics of the South Slavic languages and adopts a theoretical approach of the most recent Slovak study about univerbation. | ||
