Modern cars with internal combustion engine require at least a friction clutch, 5-speed gearbox and differential drive. This paper deals with a substitute power engine, the electric 3-phase AC induction motor, which has a lower power rating, but higher maximum torque and completely different torque characteristics. Vehicles fitted with the electric engine require adaptation of the transmission line. The best solution is a completely new transmission line without the clutch and with 2-speed gearbox. This paper contains the evidence that the planetary gear drive, fulfils a majority of demands related to the vehicle drive behaviour and easiliy meets reqirements of the eletric engine. | ||
