Izvleček:A self-pinched, magnetically focussed, charge-neutralized, high current density, nonrelativistic ion beam is considered. Straight forward analytic approximations are derived among current density, focussing forces, and particle trajectories. The cylindrical symmetry and the two-dimensional plane symmetry in the beam is observed. A proposal for steady-state beam propagation is introduced as an estimate for applicable initial conditions in the beam phase space.
