The current waveform was calculated by electric circuit analysis whereat the unknown parameters were calculated using a finite element model. The procedure for iterative solving of the FE model and of the circuit model was applied to incorporate the material nonlinearities into this approach. After the current waveform was obtained the torque waveforms were calculated using 2-D and 3-D FE models. This approach was used to analyze different construction varieties and commutation schemes in order to lower the torque ripple at the motor under research.
